On September 30, hot trial-run of the new tertiary cooling system project of 5# continuous casting machine in steelmaking plant of ShanSteel Group Rizhao company was successfully done, which signifies an important limestone of the project.

5# continuous casting machine mainly provides billets for 4300 production line. In April 2022, after further expanding hot delivery and hot charging billet type and increasing hot delivery and hot charging ratio, a large number of mesh crack defects were gradually found in downstream steel rolling, which had great impact on the billet interface balance, product quality and production organization. In order to solve the above problems, the owner approved and established "tertiary cooling" project, with the aim to reduce the temperature of hot delivery continuous casting billets.

The project is an EPC project for our company, and the main cooling equipment is developed by our steel rolling and metallurgical equipment business division. Under the support and guidance of Mr. Wei Yunhua, the Director of Rizhao Branch, and under the organization of Rizhao Branch, this project was officially started on August 26, 2022, and the construction schedule was really urgent. It is the first construction project carried out by Manager Mr. Wang Duo as the project manager. The project department personnel, like Li Zhongqin, new employee Wang Gang, procurement manager Zhao Xiaowei and others, under the guidance of Manager Wang Duo, overcame many difficulties upon high requirements from the owner with tight construction duration. The construction team and the project department personnel worked day and night for 10 consecutive days before the hot trial run and finally successfully completed the hot trial run that the owner is most concerned about, which laid the foundation for smooth implementation of this project.
