On February 28, the Special Steel Plant of Shandong Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. received a good report that the medium bar production line EPC contracted by SDM Co., Ltd. successfully rolled φ 30mm high-quality special steel, marking that the adaptability transformation project for the downward extension of the medium bar production line specification of the Special Steel Plant of Shandong Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. has achieved important phased results, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent production line optimization and the competitiveness improvement of special steel products.

This project involves the equipment renovation of the medium bar production line in a special steel plant to adapt to the production of small-sized products.  After the renovation, the annual production capacity of the production line has reached 800000 tons, with specifications ranging from 25mm to 130mm. The quality and dimensional accuracy of small rod specifications have been improved.

In the face of multiple challenges such as urgent construction period, tight payment of the owner and the Spring Festival holiday, the project department of our company effectively forward all work.  Since the contract was signed, a number of key tasks such as equipment ordering, pass/groove system development and trial rolling process plan formulation will be completed within three months.  During this period, we had in-depth communication and coordination with equipment manufacturers multiple times, overcame the impact of the Spring Festival holiday, arranged personnel to enter the processing unit to supervise the equipment, and ensured timely supply.  With careful planning, the project team carried out rolling process test rolling in an orderly manner, and the pass/groove system and rolling mill guide system were successfully tested at one time.

The owner spoke highly of the project achievements, and Xu Zn, director of the medium bar workshop, said: "The successful trial rolling of φ 30mm bars is an important milestone in the technical upgrading of the production line. We will take this as a starting point to optimize the rolling process, and provide strong support for the forward of the subsequent specification extension project.  This breakthrough not only verifies the technical feasibility of the renovation plan, but also injects new momentum into the expansion of the high-end market and the strengthening of brand influence for Shandong Iron and Steel Special Steel.
