From August 8th to 10th, the three-day second edition of the Steel Structure Building Industry Chain Exhibition was grandly held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Wang Shiqi, the president of SDM Steel Structure Building Consulting and Design Research Institute, made his debut at this exhibition with the "Stackable Modular Housing" technology.

This exhibition and the Hundred Enterprises Forum are hosted by the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, China Real Estate Industry Association, China Steel Structure Association, China Construction Metal Structure Association, China Building Energy Efficiency Association, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Metallurgical Industry Branch, and the Prefabricated Steel Structure Civil Building Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, with support from the China Construction Industry Association and China Exploration and Design Association. Approximately 100 representatives from industry associations, research institutes, universities, manufacturing enterprises, and other units related to the upstream and downstream of the steel structure building industry chain participated in the event, gathering cutting-edge theories and high-end technologies. It is a grand gathering in the field of steel structure building nationwide today.
Driven by the dual objectives of vigorously advancing the "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality " goals and promoting the construction of "good houses", steel structure buildings, as an important carrier of green buildings, shoulder the important mission of promoting the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry and implementing the " Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality " goals. The current development of the industry has entered a new stage with high-quality development as the core theme, and the key lies in cultivating new productive forces in steel structures. As an important lever for the industrialization of construction and the development of green buildings, steel structure buildings are also facing the era's proposition of high-quality development. Future development breakthroughs cannot be achieved without deep integration and collaborative innovation across the entire industry chain. The exhibition calls on steel enterprises to take the initiative, guided by new development concepts, to work together to contribute to the promotion of high-quality, green, and low-carbon development of steel structure buildings in China.
The modular container house project exhibited by SDM aligns closely with the theme of this exhibition. Guided by demand, it utilizes folding technology to transform architectural space into a product-like design, suitable for industrial-scale production, integrated transportation, and rapid on-site unfolding and restoration. The entire house consists of a base, left side wall, right side wall, front door wall, rear end wall, and roof. The base is rotatably connected to the lower ends of the walls via hinges, and the walls are connected to each other and to the roof via hinges with movable pins. Through a series of folding transformations, a container-sized box is formed, which can be transported to the site and placed on a reserved foundation. It can then be unfolded in the reverse process of the aforementioned folding to form the required architectural space. After connecting water supply, electricity, drainage, and other facilities, it can be put into use. The modular container house possesses multiple technical advantages such as high standardization, ease of transportation, and flexible design. Relying on the vertical integration of the entire industry chain and intelligent manufacturing system, it has a wide range of application scenarios.
The modular folding container house, with innovative design at its core, features an intelligent folding mechanism specifically tailored for ultimate transportation efficiency. By significantly reducing its volume and lowering logistics costs, it thoroughly addresses the pain points of traditional houses, which are bulky and difficult to move, achieving a breakthrough. It also serves as an important technological carrier for "Chinese construction going global". At the exhibition, this technology particularly attracted the attention of leaders and experts from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association and Hebei Jinxi Iron and Steel.
This exhibition is not only a concentrated display of SDM's design innovation capabilities, but also an important definition of the future of steel structure building industrialization. The Stackable Modular Container House, with its revolutionary design of "breaking the constraints of transportation and empowering industrial capabilities", provides a reusable technological paradigm for China's construction industry to expand globally. The high attention from industry authorities and the enthusiastic response on site confirm the key value of this technology in promoting green and low-carbon transformation and collaborative upgrading of the industrial chain.
