Recently, with the official issuance of the 2024 National Steel Industry "Youth Safety Cup" Competition award certificates, the EPC project management department and safety management personnel of ‌SDM at Lingyuan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd.‌ for the ‌Coke Oven Equipment Upgrade Green Development Transformation Project – Coal Blending, Coke Ovens, Gas Treatment, and Utility Supporting Facilities‌ have gained further honors. The project department was awarded the "Best Youth Safety Supervision Post," and the project safety manager, Xu Fei, received the " Outstanding Youth Safety Patrol Personnel" award. This dual recognition for both the collective and the individual not only fully affirms their outstanding contributions to the field of safety production but also marks a positive start for the project's safety management efforts in 2026.

The Lingyuan Iron & Steel Coking Project commenced in November 2023. Over the nearly 12-month construction period, with strong support from company leadership and various departments, the entire project team confronted multiple challenges including extreme cold and tight schedules, ultimately achieving successful commissioning and operation. Throughout the project construction, safety management was consistently prioritized as the core task, laying a solid foundation for the smooth forward progress of the project. Faced with extreme cold weather in the Lingyuan area, where temperatures could drop as low as -28°C, the project team adhered to the principle of "safety first, prevention foremost," establishing a rigorous safety management system. To address safety hazards such as icy pipes and scaffolding, slippery footing planks, restricted mobility of construction personnel, and the increased brittleness and risk of breakage during material handling and lifting slings in low-temperature environments, the project department strictly implemented the "dual responsibility" system. Management personnel conducted daily on-site inspections, utilized daily coordination meetings to emphasize the implementation of safety measures, and required timely rectification of identified issues within specified deadlines. Simultaneously, the project department organized weekly safety meetings where management personnel from construction units watched safety education videos and conducted safety management experience exchange, continuously strengthening the safety awareness of all personnel and ensuring the smooth achievement of construction safety objectives.

Under the solid guarantee of safety management, the project team efficiently forwarded various construction tasks: the excavation of the coke oven foundation was completed on November 5, 2023, and the official commencement took place on December 24; the civil work topping-out of 1# Coke Oven was completed with frontline persistence on February 5, 2024, and all personnel returned to work on February 15 (the sixth day of the Lunar New Year); the refractory lining of 1# Coke Oven commenced on March 18, the refractory brickwork crown completion of 1# Coke Oven was achieved on June 29, the refractory brickwork crown completion of 2# Coke Oven was achieved on August 23, and 1# Coke Oven was ignited for heating up on August 30, with 2# Coke Oven successfully ignited on October 30. On December 29, 2024, the project's integrated commissioning ceremony was grandly held, receiving high recognition from leaders at all levels. On February 5, 2025, the project team returned to the site to sprint toward commissioning, overcoming difficulties such as pipeline freezing and belt slippage. On February 28, raw coal was successfully loaded into the coal tower. 1# Coke Oven was charged with coal on March 1 and produced coke on March 3; 2# Coke Oven was charged with coal on March 30 and produced coke on April 1, successfully achieving the commissioning target.

This award not only recognizes the work of the Lingyuan Iron & Steel Coking Project Department but also serves as an impetus for the project team to enhance their safety management standards. Taking the "Youth Safety Cup" competition as an opportunity, the project department will continue to deepen safety supervision efforts, continuously improve safety management levels, and contribute youthful energy to the smooth implementation of future projects and the safe development of the enterprise.
