Electric Furnace Waste Heat Energy Efficiency Benchmark Demonstrates SDM's Green Construction and Operation Strength

Recently, the Tianjin Pipe Corporation (TPCO) Waste Heat Recovery Project, contracted and operated by SDM, has assisted TPCO, a subsidiary of CITIC Pacific Special Steel, in achieving a key breakthrough in its green transformation.

In August, TPCO successfully completed the on-site acceptance inspection for the energy efficiency benchmark demonstration of its No. 1 150-ton and No. 2 90-ton alloy steel electric furnace processes. Relying on efficient electric furnaces and waste heat recovery equipment, exquisite smelting technology, and a meticulous management team, and in accordance with relevant national and industry standards, the calculated energy consumption of the electric furnace processes is better than the industry energy efficiency benchmark value. The electric furnace processes have reached the national energy efficiency benchmark level, making TPCO the first steel enterprise in Tianjin to pass the public notice for the energy efficiency benchmark.

(TPCO No. 2 90t Electric Furnace Waste Heat Recovery Project)

The waste heat recovery equipment for TPCO's No. 1 150t Electric Furnace was constructed by SDM under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) turnkey contract model, while the equipment for the No. 2 90t Electric Furnace was constructed under an EMC (Engineering Management Contracting) model. Both units are subsequently operated by SDM. The project involves deep and efficient recovery and utilization of waste heat from medium-to-high temperature flue gases generated during the electric furnace production process. Through systematic optimization design and integration, it has solved common industry challenges such as significant flue gas temperature fluctuations and high dust content, maximizing energy recovery efficiency. The steam production per ton of steel from the waste heat of the two electric furnaces and the power generation indicators of the waste heat generator sets are both at an advanced level within the industry, effectively reducing the Owner's production costs. Furthermore, the steam production per ton of steel from waste heat at similar projects contracted by SDM, namely Taiyuan Iron & Steel and Yongfeng Steel electric furnaces, are also at industry benchmark levels. After the projects transitioned to the operational phase, SDM, relying on its advanced intelligent management platform, has achieved long-term, safe, stable, and efficient system operation. All indicators outperform the design values, garnering high recognition and praise from the Owners, which fully demonstrates the company's management capabilities and service level throughout the entire project lifecycle.

The recognition from the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) for TPCO's electric furnace waste heat recovery equipment is the best validation of the successful practice of SDM's dual-wheel drive development strategy of "Engineering Technology Service + Operation Service". Leveraging this, SDM will strengthen market promotion, continuously enhance market competitiveness, and through relentless technological innovation, improve project quality and operational efficiency, create greater value for customers, and contribute more SDM wisdom and strength to industry progress and sustainable social development!
