In the prime of youth, spring heralds a new chapter. On March 20, the project for the No. 2 Iron Mine (renovation and expansion) and the upgrading and capacity expansion of the beneficiation system at the Gegi Mining Area of Inner Mongolia Shuangli Mining Co., Ltd., fully designed by SDM from start to finish, was successfully completed. Zhao Shengcun, Deputy General Manager of SDM, was invited to attend the project completion and trial production launch ceremony. The smooth completion of this project marks another significant milestone for SDM in the domestic mining design field.
As a large-scale integrated mining and beneficiation project, the No. 2 Iron Mine Project in the Huogeqi Mining Area of Inner Mongolia Shuangli Mining Co., Ltd. boasts impressive scale. The mining capacity is 3 million tons of iron ore, 200,000 tons of copper ore, and 200,000 tons of lead-zinc ore annually. The concentrate has a tfe content of 63.4%, with an annual output of 810,000 tons. The high-sulfur product has a tfe content of 57.60% and a sulfur content of approximately 17%, with an annual output of 60,000 tons.
The mining engineering project commenced construction in March 2023. The development system adopts a combined shaft and ramp development method, comprising one main shaft, one auxiliary shaft, one central intake shaft, two return air shafts (east and west return air shafts), and one ramp. The maximum mining depth is approximately 800 m, and the mining method employed is the sublevel caving method without sill pillars.
The mineral processing project commenced construction in May 2025. The beneficiation system process adopts a crushing strand of "primary crushing + closed-circuit screening with secondary/tertiary crushing + closed-circuit ultra-fine crushing with high-pressure grinding rolls" and a grinding and separation strand of "pre-concentration before grinding + stage grinding and stage separation + flotation DeSox".
In the full-strand design work of the project, Shanye Design has always closely focused on the core objectives of "safe and efficient mining processes, green and precise beneficiation processes," empowering the high-quality construction of the project with professional design. During the mining engineering design phase, the team, based on the resource endowment of the mine, optimized the development system and mining process design, not only strengthening the safety defenses of mine production but also ensuring the efficiency, intensiveness, and safety of resource extraction. In the beneficiation engineering design phase, the team iterated process solutions around the full-strand crushing, grinding and separation processes, integrating high-efficiency and energy-saving equipment with intelligent monitoring systems. Simultaneously, green and environmentally friendly aspects such as tailing disposal and wastewater recycling were planned, successfully achieving the design goals of "high efficiency, low consumption, intelligence, and environmental protection" in beneficiation production.
From the initial feasibility study and scheme comparison, through high-level design optimization, to detailed construction drawing design, and finally providing full-process technical support on-site, the Shanye Design team, grounded in their **discipline** and guided by safety, successfully overcame multiple design and construction challenges. These included complex geological conditions, the difficulty of mining multi-mineral and multi-layer ore bodies, high sulfur content in the ore, tight integration of process steps, and stringent safety and environmental requirements. Through meticulous attention to every design detail, they laid a solid foundation for the smooth implementation and high-quality completion of the project, once again demonstrating SDM's discipline strength and technical expertise in the field of mine engineering.
