Focus on the Treatment of Coal Coking Wastewater SDM Participates in the Industry Exchange Meeting in Yulin

From April 1st to 2nd, the 2026 Northwest Regional Exchange Meeting on Water Use, Water Conservation, and Wastewater Resource Utilization in the Coal Coking Industry was held in Yulin, Shaanxi Province. This meeting closely aligned with the national water conservation campaign, the ecological protection of the Yellow River Basin, and the high-quality development strategy. It focused on the core goal of green and low-carbon transformation in the coal coking industry in the northwest region. Over 300 industry representatives from universities, research institutes, engineering construction units, as well as the coal chemical and steel industries, gathered to discuss key issues such as zero discharge of mine water, advanced treatment of coking wastewater, salt crystallization from high-salt wastewater, and pollutant control. They jointly deliberated on water conservation and management strategies for the industry and explored new paths for green development.

SDM Design Water Engineering Technology Branch participated in this conference, and the department's chief engineer made a keynote presentation titled "Key Technologies for Treating Refractory Coking Wastewater - High-Energy Catalytic Oxidation Technology and Activated Carbon Regeneration Practice" during the technical forum session. Through industry policy interpretation, technical route analysis, and detailed project operation data, the core pain points of low-cost CODcr removal were identified. The unique advantages of high-energy catalytic oxidation technology and activated carbon regeneration technology were comprehensively demonstrated to the participants. Under the same conditions, the operating cost per ton can be reduced by 6-7 yuan, effectively solving the industry problem of high wastewater treatment costs for coking enterprises. The technical sharing attracted the attention of many industry peers. After the presentation, representatives from several enterprises took the initiative to come forward for consultation and discussion, exploring the possibilities of technology implementation and cooperation.

During the conference, the organizers arranged a field visit for all participating delegates to the BOT project for high-salt mine water treatment at Shaanxi Zhongtai Energy Coal Mine. This visit deeply integrated theoretical discussions from the conference with engineering practices. As a benchmark demonstration project for mine water resource utilization in the northwest region, this project covers an area of approximately 40.39 acres. It employs an advanced process of "pretreatment + membrane concentration + fractional crystallization", treating approximately 5.2 million cubic meters of high-salt mine water annually. This process efficiently recovers high-quality water resources, providing a replicable and scalable practical model for the industry's mine water treatment and resource utilization. It also serves as a valuable reference for the Water Engineering Technology Branch's subsequent technical optimization and project expansion.

This participation has enhanced the reputation and industry competitiveness of SDM in the field of coal coking wastewater treatment, and has also established an efficient communication bridge with owners, universities, research institutes, and industry peers. In the future, the Water Engineering Technology Branch will continue to deepen industry exchanges and cooperation, keep abreast of industry technology frontiers, continuously reserve and iterate core water treatment technologies, actively tap market potential, and provide customers with more advanced technologies and higher-quality services.
