Recently, the award-winning projects of the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award of China Iron and Steel Industry Association and The Chinese Society for Metals in 2020 were announced, among which the "Development and Application of New Type Efficient Large Capacity Green Coke Oven Equipment Technology" jointly declared by SDM and Shansteel Rizhao Co., Ltd won the second prize.

The Metallurgical Science and Technology Award, the highest science and technology award in China metallurgical industry, was jointly established by China Iron and Steel Industry Association and The Chinese Society for Metals to promote scientific and technological progress & innovation in metallurgical industry, and to encourage the utilization of scientific and technological forces to promote the development of metallurgical industry.

As the overall planning and design management unit of Shansteel Rizhao Iron & Steel Base Project, SDM has thoroughly carried out the concept of innovative development, grasped the development trend of the industry, and successfully completed the construction of Shansteel Rizhao Iron & Steel Base Project with the goal of building an intelligent, efficient, green and high-end iron and steel base. Based on the demand of Shansteel combined with the coal blending index, fuel characteristics, product mix, climate, land occupation and other conditions of Shansteel,  the world's first new type efficient large capacity green coke oven -7.3m top-charging coke oven was customized for the Shansteel project. realizing the self-cleaning function development of coke oven energy flow, improving the energy conversion efficiency, reducing the coke oven environmental costs, promoting the iron & steel and coking industry technology progress as well as environment friendly development, with remarkable economic, social and environmental benefits.

Winning the Metallurgical Science & Technology Award is the full affirmation of SDM's long-term adherence to the strategy of "focusing on environment friendly, intelligent and green metallurgy ". SDM will continue to be committed to the greening, intellectualization and high-quality of the iron and steel industry, vigorously promote technological innovation, and make contributions to the greater scientific and technological innovation of China's iron and steel industry during the "14th Five-Year Plan".
